so sue me I've been working
Aug. 15th, 2001 10:57 pmI've been putting a lot of stuff off until tonight, tomorrow and Thursday. But now I'm out of excuses because I'm done with school. Yeah, I know, all of you were done with that hoary time-eating pest a few months ago. But those of us who fail classes sometimes are stuck in summer quarter and have to wait until August for our mere 4-week respite. So now I've but 2 days to regroup and pack and leave for Maui on Saturday morning.
Life sets up such contrasts sometimes. My mother comes alive in Hawai'i, but she's only been twice. She brightens up around her best friend Mona, who she sees all the time. The Gruhls are moving to Arizona tomorrow or Friday. We leave for Maui Saturday morning. We're coming back the 25th. They are not. Nobody can predict what she'll do.
I myself am kind of stumbling forward into this, watching chapters of my life close and open at ridiculous rates. I should be used to that by now, and I kind of am. One advantage of being young is that you haven't had too many years of your life to invest in anything, and so are more open to shuffling your assets around for greatest gain. I do enough asset-shuffling for my entire family. My sister's got years of ballet behind her and my parents are, well, parents. I've got... Boy Scouts? But I've already got Eagle. Computers? They're always changing. Friends? Changed schools every 2 years. I'm the least-rooted person I know. I've got my family, and sometimes it feels like it's us against them. Thank God they love me.
So those of you in the area (cough *slugs* cough) who haven't gotten your RDA of Jonny will have to fast for another week. Believe me, I miss you too. Whoever you are.
Shameless plug moment - got a laser pointer?
