ummm... k.
Sep. 22nd, 2003 07:26 pmfirst day in the 'ham. Relatively uneventful, I don't yet have a scene up here so it's pretty quiet at Chez Owens.
Got the books that were in stock at the store... made the First Ceremonial trip to Haggens for this week's sustenance, or at least enough food to last me until I can go back. Got bent by parking prices.
My computing life has been pretty insane, at least from my perspective. The vaunted Godlike Fileserver got a little screwy and I can only assume it was the travel that confused it. Am short some cables (if you can believe it). The closet needs some cooling, but no local home improvement stores have the right fans (much less know what I'm talking about). The school network is pretty much chaos, and I can't connect to any CS servers though HLSW works fine, though at times the 190ms average pings are depressing. Jer says the network stabilizes a bit after some time, once they figure out who to limit.
The web registration system is 503, gg folks... hope you got the right classes!
Jeremy has done nothing but play everquest in his free time since I arrived. No TV, no reading, no email, no surfing. 100% EQ. He plays two characters at once. Maybe he's getting it "in before the lock" as they say? We'll see. I must admit I envy his ability to play the game at 900ms ping, something CSers could only dream of.
I should go see Graham tomorrow. Maybe it would be good to find out where he lives first.
