Dusk into Darkness
While driving an hour back home nearly every weekend certainly can be tedious, I am in the fortunate position of having that drive be a nice one. It's easy to get in a real thoughtful mood when looking at distant mountains through a dusky haze on a long drive. When I arrived I felt pretty darn good about the rest of the summer. Father's day went well, Whitney's recital was fantastic, and even though classes are starting again the week has been quiet, lonely and probably a good thing in the end.
Darkness to Displeasure
Feeling swell, I approached my apartment and saw two new exchange students wander out of the one next door. They seemed interested in greeting me, I figured they were neighbors so what the hey. After some gesturing and sentences with long pauses, it was eventually impressed on me that he would be living in my apartment. Hmm. Knowing he could quickly prove himself, I let him in. Sure enough, he had the key to room B, and it was obvious he'd been in there before - there was a fucking giant TV in the living room, and random dishes in the kitchen. The bathroom had hair products all labeled in Japanese. This TV, though, is unreal. I'm sure it looks bigger because my apartment ain't large, but still.
Anyway this throws a wrench into all my plans for getting my own room in BW this summer >:-( We also found out 416 has at least one guy in it, so moving over there is no longer a sure thing. Bah. Jer and I have to talk to Karen and see what we can work out. Big TVs are one thing, getting this EQ player out of my room is a much higher priority.
Between this and Jer going to work at 5am, this is shaping up to be a very strange summer indeed.
