So Josh, Cliff, Ryan and Jared came by on the 3rd to ignite a box of fireworks that Cliff had left over from last year. We went out to the elementary school at the end of my street and "fucked shit up" for like 2 hours. It was excellent.
Today I went to church and everyone between 10 and 30 was gone. Bible camp is in session and it's the 4th. Go figure. Went downtown to the IMAX and saw Harry Potter 3: Return of the Jedi Wizard King and enjoyed it so much I'm totally recommending it to people, which is totally redundant because nobody doubts that it's good. I was still taken aback by its high quality.
To wrap up the holiday I went out to the Christiansons as I did last year. The neighborhood was a war zone, it was unreal. Their neighbors were lighting up four figures of ordinance, and between the folks at our party we had a few hundred dollars worth. The whole place was ablaze with mortars and flashers and god knows what going off constantly. It was pretty cool but kind of overkill.
I decided to do things a little differently this time and make something up. Having read too many 'improvised fireworks' threads I thought the sparkler bomb might be a fun thing to do. So $60, 720 sparklers and some baling wire later, I had my very own magnesium firebomb. It made one hell of a fireball, sure enough. Josh took video which will come up here eventually. I'm not sure I'd do it again but it was certainly worth trying out. Next time I'll definitely try and get my sparklers cheaper, though.
Tomorrow is James' bachelor party, with surprise guest Shane Ray Guthrie from the 5th special forces. I don't know how I'm going to pass my Wednesday midterm if all I've done is party this weekend. Maybe I won't. Would that be fate or stupidity?
