Airports are lonely places at 5:30am. Not because there's nobody there, mind you. They are in fact quite busy. But nobody really wants to be there, so they retreat into their own spaces, stare through the paper, sleep, drink coffee and wait for it to kick in. There is none of the high human drama pointed out so wisely in Dogma. Only lonely people who want nothing but their loneliness this iearly in the morning.

I speak perhaps for myself most of all. I have these feelings too, but mixed in with nervousness mostly. I haven't flown since 9/11, so much of this is strange to me. I can't lock my bags, everything I own is rifled through, scanned and tagged. The terminal news is practically the Terrorist News Network.

It's not fear of highjacking or death. Just the unkown. Regardless of the effectiveness of the showy security measures now taken at airports, I have no doubt we won't see the likes of 9/11 again. It's more a fear of the unkown. I don't really have backup once I get to Ontario, I just have to trust Josh. Yikes?
