yesterday's gone
Jun. 18th, 2002 10:47 pmWent to the SCCS graduation tonight. Got thinking. Now that we're not all in highschool, people are shipping off to colleges, other cities and states and countries, how on earth are we all going to keep track? What will keep the good-ole-boys network alive? We really should assemble some kind of directory or list that people can maintain.
LJ keeps a subset of us up on things, but we need to cast a wider net. I'm talking everyone and anyone involved with HOME and its affiliates. Much as I hate to assign everything to Yahoo Groups, they're the best thing around for this sort of thing right now. Poor SLUGpower isn't looking to lively nowadays but it's been mostly supplanted by LJ (out of sheer chance). But a HOME group would be bigger and with wider reach.
So how about this: a massive yahoo group for all the HOME alumni. Start it by adding every email address you know, and work out from there. at the minimum, at least we'll have a way to contact anyone we need to. Ideally, everyone could get way involved and plan events and make address book entries and whatever. In my wildest dreams of internet savvitude, maybe. Anyway, does this sound like a cool thing? Would you be interested and involved and keep up with it? Would you add your friends and update their info so everyone could reach everyone else?
I hope this can be more than just a dream borne of my highschool regrets and instead keep the lively, vibrant community we have alive in a new form. It's not as simple as taking flyers to mon/wednesday school and having everyone show up. We need something with wide reach and easy involvement. So let me know your thoughts!
PS
